We are having our very "First Family Christmas" in our new home! I have so much to be thankful for and I am so blessed!

 When Lucas woke up, He loved the lights!

A Tennessee Thanksgiving

 

We decided to go visit Doc and Grandmama for Thanksgiving this year. We met our new baby cousin, Noah. Ate with family, made wonderful memories, enjoyed each others company.

We were all bundled up, warm and in very rare form early that morning. I asked the girls if they were ready to ride? Lb said "Mama, I give going to see Doc two thumbs up!" Lacey chimed in too, "Thumb up, mommy." 

 After being in the car for about 2 hours, we finally got to see the big rocket in Huntsville, Al. as we were passing through.

"Look! I see rocket!!" Lacey screamed out. I see, I see I replied. My husband and I looked over at each other and laughed. 

Once we were in Tennesee, We were able to meet baby Noah.  Here is Noah with his grandparents. Kyle's Aunt LeAnn and Uncle Brian.

Another baby cousin who lives with Doc and Grandmama was there, here name is Renee. She is 1 yr.old.

Our First Family Trip!

Kyle's Grandparents live in Tennessee. We decided to take a family trip and visit them. Lacey was finally old enough to try our first family trip! It was mid September 2012 when we went for our visit.


The ride there was interesting and had it's exciting moments. Between listening to the same  barbie movie play over and over, the kids fussing, restroom breaks, and let's don't forget that on the way Kyle decides to take a nap while driving... yes, this really happened. Scared me to death! So from then on I was the driver to and back home. (And for any more future trips!)

"Are we there yet?" asked LauraBeth.

Was the most asked question of the trip to any where we had to go.

Lacey just sat back and relaxed for the most part. Talked to Kyle and myself about what I really don't know since at this stage she was babbling a lot.

We finally arrived and of course we see Cows...

 to my children's amazement this was awesome! The smell.. not so much. Lacey starts saying "Moo! Moo! about a million times, I laughed the first few but I got a headache after the 100th time.

I hadn't realized how much farm land you had to drive through to actually get to their home. It took us about 10 minutes down a long dirt road. The view along the way was nice.

Going down the dirt road we passed a lot of rolled bales of hay... then I saw something moving out my window. What could it be? Was it? IT WAS! A family of deer. Even I got excited to see this.

I got out of my car and crept up to the fence to get this picture. They were both at full alert and were looking right at me. Then you hear "LOOK! Mom It's BAMBI!"

Needless to say I never got another good look at them.. Here they are running away!

We were greeted by a new member of the Corley Family, a teacup poodle named "Bo".

After church on Sunday, we took photos of the girls with their Great Grandparents. Doc is a pastor of a church in Tennessee.

Amish Country

When we were through with pictures, we decide to take the kids driving through the Amish community that was close by. I had never been to one and wanted to see how things were different. I thought the kids would enjoy the ride too... maybe even take a nap ( I hoped). With it being a Sunday, we were not able to see much. However I did get a few photos. We found out that Saturday would be a better day to go see these people and how they live. We would have to plan that on our next trip back.

This is one of the dirt roads that leads into just one of the many communities we came across.

These horses were beautiful to me and I had to snap a shot!

We all took a nap when we got back before making our long drive back home to Alabama. LauraBeth thought her Daddy needed her princess covers to make him warm and cozy.

We had a great time and are going back for another visit.

Zoo Fun

If you live in Alabama, and have small children a good place to take them is the Birmingham Zoo. We have a membership and get it renewed yearly.

We have been members to our local zoo going on 3 years now and it has never grown old. It's amazing how every time we make a trip there the children act as if it's there first time going all over again. We truly enjoy what they have to offer. The zoo has been expanding for more exhibits and we hope to see them soon.

This summer the girls and I went to a new exhibit, Dinosaurs. We absolutely loved it! Animated, real life looking dinosaurs were set up throughout the zoo in the children's section and through a trail. Facts and interesting sounds and movement astounded my girls. Towards the end of the trail you get to see the huge T-rex! Volunteers through out the zoo were around to share information about each dinosaur, I will say that it was very educational and kept there attention.

 

Next summer I am thinking of sending my oldest daughter to the summer camp they offer. Both my girls love animals. LauraBeth (pictured above) has a great passion for them. She is allergic to cats and so it's bittersweet for her to get to see them. She has told me before she wants to be a veterinarian and care for all animals.

 

We hope they offer the dinosaurs again next summer,it seemed to be a big hit with the local and surrounding areas.  

 This fall we attended the annual Wells Fargo BOO AT THE ZOO. We had so much fun! The children really enjoyed themselves (mom and dad too!). Lots of activities, train rides, carousel, hayrides, most of all CANDY! The reason for going of course. The children wore costumes and carried their pumpkins to collect the goodies. In the open middle section of the zoo, the workers always have a skit to perform with introducing some animals and sharing facts about them. The animals do a few tricks and ooh and ahh the kids. The last two Halloweens the zoo had a Scooby Doo skit. This year they had a Despicable Me skit.I recommend this zoo to all, even if it's not a holiday event it is still a great place to go. 

 

During the month of December, Zoo Light Safari is also another great family trip to make. We are going to try to make a point to see it this year. In the past it has been to cold outside to take the children. Check for a blog  and photo next month on this trip!

Meet The Bama Bumpkins!

Let me share some things about my children. 

LauraBeth is my oldest at six years old. Full of imagination, a diva, a dreamer. She is always pretending to be a famous person, and boy can she act. Turning on and off tears like a water faucet. Dances and acts out her own plays as she pretends. Trying to make her little sister participate, which never works. She has potential, and I hope one day it is something that can be discovered.

Lacey is my middle child at 2 years old. Tomboy to the tea, no filter even at the tender age of 2 she speaks her mind. Determined, free spirited, patient, laid back. Loves shoes, makeup, mud, dirt, and plays rough. Is not the most balanced. She is knock kneed and pigeon toed and trips and falls over everything. Never misses a beat. Full of energy!

Lucas my youngest at 3 1/2 months. Smiling, happy baby. Not much to say about him yet. He is a blessing and a great baby.

Since the birth of my 3rd child, things around the house are very hectic at times. I love every minute of it. From diaper changes, to skint knees, tattle telling, there is never a dull moment in my home. I would not have it any other way.
